Set your delivery rates

We recommend that you simplify your shipping rates as much as possible. For example, you can offer free shipping to help increase sales and improve your chances of winning the Buy Box.

You can set your shipping rates in three ways:

Item/weight-based shipping

When a customer purchases your products, Amazon applies the flat per-shipment rate and the appropriate per-kilo or per-item shipping rate for the order.

Weight-based example:

  • You set a per-delivery rate of $4.00 and a per-kilo rate of $0.50.
  • A buyer purchases two products from you, a 25kg television and a 1kg DVD player.
  • Amazon calculates the total delivery charge to the customer as follows: $ 4.00 + $ 0.50 x (25kg + 1kg) = $ 17.00.

Item-based example:

  • You set a per-shipment rate of $4.00 and per-item rate of $1.00.
  • A buyer orders two products from you.
  • Amazon calculates the total shipping charge to the buyer as follows: $4.00 + $1.00 x 2 items = $6.00.

Price-Banded shipping

Price-banded shipping lets you create ranges or bands of order prices. Each price band has its own shipping rate. When a buyer purchases your products, Amazon reviews the total order value, identifies the band the total falls into and then applies the shipping rate you specified for the price band.

Price-Banded example:

  • You create price bands, such as:
Revenue band Shipping fee
$0.00 - 50.00 $10.00
$50.01 - 80.00 $5.00
$80.01 and over $0.00
