Is Amazon Singapore worth it?

We are a NZ based company that sell on Amazon all over the world and it's been going really well. We now want to branch into Asia and have created an Amazon.sg account. Our freight partners tell us though that we need a UEN number in order to import goods into SG. As a foreign entity, it seems the only way to get a UEN is to employ a managed services company based in SG to register our business at a cost of ~$2000 SGD/year with all of the overheads that come with that.

Does anyway know of a way to pay someone to clear our inbound goods for us or is the UEN route the only option? If any foreign entitities has been though this process, your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
