Buying from Amazon seller and selling to Amazon buyer

Hello: I sold an item listed for sale on Amazon. The item is damaged . To make sure the buyer receives the item can I buy from another Amazon seller and have it shipped to my buyer? This way Amazon makes the cost on bother listing. Is this drop shipping even if I keep the sale on Amazon. ?

No, unfortunately. Sorry for the short answer. It would be against Amazon policy to confirm an order using the method you mentioned.

This is considered to be dropshipping. Amazon has very specific rules regarding dropshipping. I recommend reading these rules in seller help.

NO. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS!

Yes, it is the type of thing that could be considered good customer service, but it's a violation of Amazon rules, and will get you suspended.

If you do not have the item, you will need to cancel the order (yes, your metrics will take a hit); but cancel only after messaging the customer and explaining what happened.

You aren't supposed to as it's against policy. But I'm sure many of us have done this in a pinch when we didn't want our metrics to get hit. You will probably be fine doing it once. Or cancel the order.

Hello @Seller_LbdLS97vmGipT

Christine here from Amazon Forums.

This is a common question, but I need to clearly state that purchasing from another Amazon seller to fulfill your own Amazon sale is strictly against our marketplace policies.

🚫 What you're describing would violate:

  • Amazon's Anti-Gaming Policy
  • Our Drop-Shipping Guidelines
  • Seller Code of Conduct

⚠️ Consequences could include:

  • Immediate account suspension
  • Loss of selling privileges
  • Withholding of funds

✅ Instead, here's what you should do:

  • Contact the buyer immediately
  • Cancel the order with a clear explanation
  • Contact Seller Support if you need assistance

For future reference, approved drop-shipping on Amazon must come from wholesale suppliers or manufacturers only - never from another Amazon seller's listing.

Hope this helps clarify our policy! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Christine.
