Do I need an Amazon Label if i have a unique UPC code on my packaging?

I am seeing conflicting information on this. I paid for GS1 barcodes, had them printed on my packages.. but now im seeing I might have to cover the barcode up with an Amazon label. Any insight into this matter is appreciated. thanks.
