What is this Customization

What does Amazon mean by we need to offer $ zero-cost customization of our products or listings will be taken down? I need help understanding what this is about. MY products are handmade and customization of those products is not going to be FREE. Can someone from Amazon support explain this?

I came here to look for similar answers, but I think it's exactly what we THINK it is. It's Amazon not have a single understanding of it's sellers and instead going forward with a change that is detrimental to the business owners it relies on.

From what I gather is that any product that has customization options has to include a FREE customization or the listing will be taken down. It's dumb. Really dumb.

I use customization on every single product so maybe I can help.

You have your listing for your main product which is $20 and you have customizations that cost more. You make the listing at $20. Then you add the customization and make the first option as just the item with no customization. $0

Each additional option in that set you would add your customization cost. I will attach a sample of part of my customization so you can see what it will look like.

Hope that helps! If you have questions let me know. :)

@Seller_MoGbTyff168AW and @Seller_47HEArbpJewuA What this means is that a listing with customizations must have a selectable choice that doesn't cost any more than the displayed price. There has to be a "base" customized product for the price that is displayed on the product page. You can't have only upcharges within the customizations.

Your custom handmade product isn't FREE, but whatever base price is displayed has to have a base customized product.

Using one of my listings as an example:

img

For the displayed price, the zero cost option, is for a standard size, choice of stain color, customized carving, and that carving is natural (unpainted).

If a selection is required (red star), at least one option has to be the included (zero cost option). I don't charge for choosing a color, but if I did, at least one color must be "base" (zero additional cost).

img

As you can see, for the required selection of Paint the Carving, the Unpainted carving is no additional cost (zero cost option) while white or black paint is extra.

The Custom size is an Optional customization and therefore it doesn't have to have a zero cost choice. The zero cost choice is to leave that entry blank.

@Seller_MoGbTyff168AW, I didn't find any customizable arrangements. So let's pretend that an XL Spring Mix Saddle Arrangement was going to have customizations.

Maybe you have a required choice of 29, 36, or 42 flowers. Assuming the original price, the 29 flower choice would be your zero cost because that is what a buyer already gets. The 36 or 42 flower options can have an additional price.

Maybe you'll have a customization for a bow. If it is a required customization, then a 3" red bow is no cost but a 6" red bow is an add. If this is an optional customization then both bows could have an added cost because no bow would be the no cost option.

Has this cleared it up for you?
