Unused Amazon Seller Account Suspended - Found related to an Unknown Account

Hello All - Appreciate any guidance you can provide me as I've hit a dead end.

I created a sellers account in August 2016 but never used it. It just sat there for years and forgotten about until my wife recently tried to set up a sellers account, which was flagged because of my sellers account. When logging in, it said my account was deactivated because of an unknown account "BENJAMIN R WATCHER1"

You have a separate account BENJ*********CHTER1 which was enforced for violating one of our policies. As a result, you may no longer use the [redacted] Selling account to sell on Amazon.com.

I have no idea who or what this account is since I've never sold anything on Amazon, or know anyone that does.

Here are the timeline of events.

  • 8/16/16 - Registered my Amazon account as a sellers account
  • 2/25/21 - I received an email regarding the separate account and deactivation
  • 9/1/22 - My wife decides to try and open her sellers account while she has downtime from pregnancy and is notified of my account
  • 9/9/22 - I try to log in to delete or unregister my unused sellers account but see it's deactivated due to the unknown account above. I try appealing but Amazon says I did not provide enough information. We try appealing a few times with more information but it's difficult when I don't know anything about the unknown account and the appeals are deemed not enough.
  • Today - We are trying to revisit this now 2 years later to try and get resolution as she'll have downtime in the next few months with another pregnancy

Some additional tidbits -

  • I did live with my wife (gf at the time) and a few roommates for a few years but none are Amazon sellers. My wife, sister, and one roommate were on my purchasing account but again they are not Amazon sellers and were on my account for years before the deactivation.
  • Maybe just a coincidence but around the time of the deactivation of my account on 2/25/21 - we did move to a large apartment complex.

Would GREATLY appreciate any suggestions. Would love to just delete my sellers account but read that's not possible. Just frustrating that I've never used it or sold anything and have never heard of this other account and it's been holding this up.

I see you are struggling with a Related Account issue. For me to provide you with specific account information, please reply with a Performance Notification or a Case ID. That will allow me to review some of your account details.

The information about related or linked accounts is vast and I will share some information in this post.

Bottom line is, if you have an account, and that account becomes deactivated, it will in turn, deactivate every account it is related to or shares information with. Sometimes both accounts belong to the same Seller, but many times the account causing the trouble is unknown to you. In your case, your Wife started a new account but was deactivated due to sharing information with your old account, which was deactivated due to some type of relationship with "BENJ*********CHTER1". To be able to reactivate your wife's account, you need to reactivate your account and that will allow you to reactivate your wife's account. THEN you would correctly close your account.

The best way to begin your investigation is with the Performance Notification. It will tell you the name of the other seller (in most cases). If you recognize the name, you have a starting point.

These situations will occur when information used to create or manage the account is found on another store that is no longer eligible to sell on amazon. If you do not own another account, you may have shared information with another seller on amazon.

• Do you have any friends, family or business partners who currently sell, or previously sold on amazon? Have you ever hired anyone to manage, or set up your account in any fashion? Do you have any employees or staff with access to your devices or seller central account?

• Have you noticed any unauthorized charges? Are you a victim of account compromise or identity theft? If so you will need to prove you reported and resolved this.

• Does anyone else have financial interest in your account, like an investor?

• Have you purchased inventory from another seller or business that partners with Amazon sellers? (Not a regular supplier)

To reactivate your account, you must appeal from the Account Health Page. Each appeal will be different depending on the reason for the relationship.

For example, if the related account belongs to a former employee, the appeal will be different than if you hired a 3rd party to set up or work on your account and that caused the relationship.

More information for review:

For information related just to this account, please provide the Performance Notification (do not include any personal information) or a Case ID - AND begin answering the questions above.

I look forward to your response. Thank you for reaching out on the forums.
