Help Intrepreting Policy - Special Delivery Options for Large & Bulky Items FOR FBM ORDERS
Hello fellow veteran sellers and wonderful members of the ASF moderation team,
I come to the forums today seeking advice or guidance of Amazon policy in regards to a very specific manner.
If your offers are small parcels...fair warning to not waste your time, this might not be your cup of tea.
The Situation
- We primarily sell Large & Bulky items in the furniture category via FBM Arranged Freight Delivery. Such as High End Lift Chairs and Ergonomic Recliners.
- A small, but significant portion of the Amazon customers who order these products from us are Elderly or Disabled people with special needs beyond the standard curbside delivery.
- We get messages frequently from customers asking for white glove or in-home delivery options as they are incapable of bringing their purchased product inside their home for a variety of reasons.
- Sometimes we don't get messages until after the item is delivered and the customer is upset, expecting a product of that size to have been brought inside their home and set up for them. Sometimes even leading to a refusal of delivery.
- As an FBM seller, we want to find a resolution within Amazon Policy to delight these customers and minimize the common issues/complaints.
The Policies In Question
- Ordering a Large Item from a Third-Party Seller Policy
- Special Delivery Options for Large and Bulky Items Policy
As an FBM Third-Party Seller, as mentioned prior, we do Arranged Deliveries often. In the notes of the former policy, the only thing that even remotely relates to an In-Home delivery would be the following line...
"The carrier will deliver your package to a secure location outside your residence or in a lobby space."
This leads us to believe that it is against Amazon Policy for us to provide this service on our offers, even if it is at no extra cost to the customer.
Now under the latter Special Delivery Options for Large and Bulky Items Policy,
At the very bottom there is a note stating...
"If you purchased your item through a third-party seller on Amazon.com, go to Ordering a Large Item from a Third-Party Seller for additional information."
This leads us to believe that this entire page strictly only applies to S&S by Amazon or FBA orders.
This page also refers to a "Deluxe Delivery & Assembly" Option, which sounds exactly like the type of service we would like to provide to the Amazon customers who order through us on this platform, just like we do with White Glove In-Home Delivery options to our customers outside of this platform.
Our Question(s)
- Is there a way, within Amazon Policy, for us 3P FBM Sellers who specialize in the furniture category to provide this necessary service to Amazon's customers?
- Whether it be via the "Deluxe Delivery & Assembly" program, or via our own traditional & reputable "Final Mile" White Glove In-Home Delivery professionals. Or are we 3P FBM sellers permanently restricted to standard curbside delivery?
Thank you for your time reading and considering this matter. Looking forward to some helpful responses.

I'm not going to attempt to answer your question, but will ask if you using what was called Large and Heavy template -- Help page now called.....
Freight-shipping templates for less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments

If only.
In this forum there is no such action.
Yet the rules still say you must not create duplicate threads.
With no way whatever to draw attention to old thread.

Greetings @Seller_XB0lFaTWAgMqj,
I first want to commend you on such a well written and formatted thread. It was easy to follow and I understood your ask without any need for clarification, seriously well done! Now to your questions.

To answer both in one swoop, to my knowledge, "Deluxe Delivery & Assembly" is not an option for 3rd party sellers. Arranged Freight Delivery and Scheduled Delivery are the two standard options available.
I know @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6bllinked to a great Seller Central help page, but I want to call attention to one of the FAQs specifically:
"Am I required to unpack or assemble the item for the customer?
No. Neither you nor the carrier may enter the customer’s home or building, and should deliver the item outside the customer’s front door. Sellers that are part of the Local Selling program can offer delivery plus services for larger items. If you have a staff of technicians and want to deliver and install your products, you may apply to this program using the following link:https://go.amazonsellerservices.com/DSApplication."
Full disclosure I'm not completely familiar with the Local Selling program so I would need to read into that more, but the name implies it might not be a service you could provide across a large network.
I hope this information is helpful, please reply to me here if you have additional thoughts or questions!
