Amazon not addressing issue - California Restriction

Mods please help!!!! Amazon is repeatedly NOT addressing my issues in case 17598797021. I sell Live Plants, however several of my ASINs are being restricted for sale in California due to the following reason: "This product does not meet California air cleaner regulation requirements, and cannot be shipped to California" I am NOT selling air cleaners or any product that needs certification and regulation to sell in California. I am selling Live Plants. Amazon support in my case just does not need to comprehend that and has provided zero help at all in this case. Can someone help me get this case looked at by a knowledgeable team and help me get a resolution so I can continue to sell my live plant to customers in California? How do I escalate my case??

Hi @Seller_Ih36w0EgKTGyT,

I took a look at one of the affected ASINs you mentioned (B0DQ1TGL7L), and I noticed something that might be contributing to the restriction: the listing refers to “air purification” in multiple places, which could be setting off Amazon’s automated checks for air-cleaning devices — especially those restricted in California.

Here are a few spots where this shows up:

  • Title: “Natural Air Purifier”
  • Product Information Table: “Special Feature: Air Purification”
  • Bullet Point #4: Describes the plant’s “natural air purifying qualities” and references NASA studies: “Houseplants are well known to be a healthy addition to your home due to their natural air purifying qualities. Many houseplants have been identified by NASA as able to filter toxins out of the air, allowing you to breathe easy!”

I completely understand that you’re selling live plants — not regulated air purifiers. But in my experience, even subtle phrasing can sometimes lead to misclassification, especially when it overlaps with terminology used in regulated product categories.

In some cases, sellers have had success resolving issues like this by rewording or removing the problematic language. Even if Support manually clears the listing now, you might run into the same flag again later unless the language is adjusted.

Of course, it's totally your call how you want to handle it — I just wanted to offer a perspective in case it helps you get this resolved more quickly.

Wishing you all the best.

Michael
