Rising markup on Amazon shipping rates

Up until about 3 months ago I used Amazon Buy Shipping exclusively as it would be cheaper than the contract rates we have with UPS and FedEx. The rates weren't much different, but it usually saved me a a couple of dollars. Over the last few months the Amazon rates have substantially increased, and now ranges between 20-40% higher than our own contract rates. Has anyone else experienced this?

It may have to do with the weights you are shipping. I have noticed some rates increasing, and some to still be really good through Amazon. It seems the lower weighted items that ship fairly near by are really good rates. Heavier items, especially those shipping a long distance, I can often find substantially lower UPS rates elsewhere.

Pretty sure they are not providing free INR insurance. They just charge ALL sellers more to cover the cost of the "free" protection

If your rates are better, then you can connect your account to buy shipping to get those rates while still being covered under Amazon's buy shipping guarantee.

We have the exact opposite experience.

Ever since USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE was initiated, we find that it covers almost EVERY Amazon order, and for FAR less than USPS PRIORITY MAIL used to cost, and on-par with what USPS FIRST CLASS used to cost.

Now, the ONLY time UPS gets an Amazon shipment is IF the package is VERY large and heavy, but is Less than $1,000.00 in value. LARGE packages valued at OVER $1,000.00 go FedEx home Delivery.

But USPS GROUND ADVANTAGE is REALLY hoovering-up most of our shipping business, and we are saving money because of it!

Whooo-Hoooo!

By the way, I noticed yesterday an order which was a repeated order to a customer, exact same shipping address and exact same item shipping in the same box with the same weight. I noticed that the UPS Ground rate that I paid through Amazon a couple of months ago about about $3.00 more than the rate they were charging me today. So, some of the UPS rates have gone down over the last couple of months.

Do they come to your location and pick up then? I see the option, but did not look into. Looks like there are fees that are waived initially that will kick in at some point, also.

@Seller_IDL7JwsGeAbzeI just ran last months returns billing vs. actual ship cost. If the item went out UPS and was returned UPS, the return ship cost is roughly 20% higher. I have read a few locations where people were filing safe-T claims. Have not looked into further. There should be a reimbursement area similar to Amazon marking your FBA items for an incorrect weight.
