I am a new seller so excuse my lack of knowledge surrounding this.
I am going down the private label route ordering from a Chinese wholesaler and have a few questions related to branding a product vs generic.
Initially I was under the impression that when doing private label, I could create/name a brand, and sell without having to enroll in brand registry. I am still in the beginning stages and filing for a patent/trademark is a lot of work should this not work out.
Is it still considered private label if I modify the unit and customize the packaging but brand the unit as "Generic"? Is this allowed?
If I created a UPC with a brand name such as "XYZ" but do not have that name patented or trademarked, do I have to create another UPC with the name "Generic" if I want to create a generic branded listing?
Is there any way to list a product with a brand on it, such as my "Brand through Private label" without going through brand registry?
